Favourite Products
Favourites are products pinned to the front of the POS product grid. Each person can customise the order of their own favourites.
An Admin can also set a store default order for the whole shop. Anyone who has not arranged their own favourites sees that order.
Manage Favourites
There is a star button next to the product search box on the POS screen. Tap it to open Manage favourites.
Admins see two views in the dialog, My favourites and Store default, with a switcher at the top. Everyone else sees their own list only, with no switcher.
Pinning an Item from the Grid
- On the POS screen, press and hold a product tile for about half a second. On a computer, right click the tile instead.
- A menu opens and it shows the product name, its code or SKU, and how much stock is left, followed by the actions.
- Choose Pin to favourites.
- The tile moves to the front of the grid and shows a star in its corner.
To unpin, press and hold the tile again and choose Remove from favourites.
TIP
- The same menu has a Move to front option for an item you have already pinned.
- Press and hold does not add anything to the cart, so you can even pin an item during a sale.
Pinning a Variant
- Tap or click on the product tile to open the Variant Picker.
- Click the star on the row you want.
The pinned variant gets its own tile showing the product name, the variant label, and that variant's price and stock. Tapping it adds it to the cart without opening the picker.
The original product tile stays where it is, so the other variants are still reachable in the usual way.
Building Your Own List
Open Manage favourites and stay on My favourites.
- Add an item: search for a product by name or code in the search box at the top of the dialog, then add the result you want to the list. You can add a whole product or a single variant. Anything already on the list is left out of the results.
- Add several at once: turn on Select multiple, tick each result you want, then add them together.
- Reorder: drag the rows into the order you want. The order of the list is the order on the grid.
- Remove: use the remove icon on the row.
Choose Save when the list looks right. Nothing is saved until you do.
You can pin up to 200 items.
Moving a row without dragging
Dragging is fiddly on a small screen, so there are two other ways to move a row.
- Double tap a row to pick it up. It is highlighted, and the arrow keys move it up and down. Double tap it again to drop it.
- With the keyboard, tab to the grip on the left of a row, press Space to pick it up, use the arrow keys to move it, then press Space again to drop it.
If You Remove All Your Favourites
If you remove every item from your list and save it, you go back to the store default your Admin set, exactly as if you had chosen Reset to store default.
The same is true from the grid. If you unpin the last item you had pinned, the shop's pinned items come back.
If your shop has no store default, it simply means nothing is pinned.
Setting the Store Default Order
Only an Admin can do this.
- Open Manage favourites and switch to Store default.
- Build the list the same way you would build your own: search for products or variants and add them, drag the rows into order, and remove anything you do not want.
- Choose Save store default and confirm.
If you have already arranged your own favourites, choose Copy from my favourites to fill the store default with that same list. You can then adjust it before saving. Copying only fills in the list on screen. Nothing changes for your staff until you choose Save store default.
To clear the store default, remove every item from the Store default list and save it. Staff without their own favourites then see the product grid with nothing pinned.
Who Sees the Store Default
Staff without their own favourites arrangement get the store default. As soon as someone arranges their own list, theirs applies to them instead, and later changes to the store default do not rearrange their tiles.
To go back to using the store default, open Manage favourites and choose Reset to store default. This clears your own arrangement, and the list in front of you changes to the store default as soon as you confirm. The button only appears when your shop has a store default to go back to. It is also unavailable if you have never arranged your own favourites, since you are already seeing that order.
How the Grid Is Ordered
- Pinned items come first, in the order that applies to you.
- Everything else follows in alphabetical order by product name.
Editing a product, adjusting stock, or receiving a purchase order does not move any tiles.
Searching and Scanning
Search looks through everything, pinned or not. If a pinned item matches what you typed, it appears first in the results.
If a Pinned Product Is Removed
If someone deletes a pinned product or marks it inactive, it stops appearing on the grid. There is no error to clear, and your other favourites keep their order.
FAQ
Q: Are my favourites shared with the rest of the team?
A: No. Each person signs in and sees their own set. The only shared order is the store default an Admin sets, and it applies until you arrange your own.
Q: Where do I find the Manage favourites button?
A: On the POS screen, next to the product search box. It is the star button.
Q: How many items can I pin?
A: Up to 200.
Q: The Admin changed the store default. What happens to my own order?
A: If you have arranged your own favourites, nothing changes for you. Your order stays as you left it, and you see the new store default only after you choose Reset to store default, or after you remove all your own favourites. If you have never arranged your own, you see the new order straight away.
Q: I unpinned my last item and the shop's pinned items appeared. Why?
A: With no favourites of your own, you follow the shop order, so removing your last pinned item puts you back on the store default. To pin nothing at all, ask your Admin whether the shop still needs a store default order.
Q: Can I undo a change to my favourites?
A: There is no undo button. Unpinning leaves the product itself untouched, and you can pin it again at any time.
