Receipt Printing & Reprint

Printing After a Sale (POS)

What happens after you complete a sale depends on the print method set up in Settings → Receipt Printing:

  • QZ Tray or Web Bluetooth configured: the receipt prints automatically and silently, with no dialog and no button to press.
  • Browser dialog method: your browser's print dialog opens automatically. Select your receipt printer and click Print.
  • Printing disabled, not yet configured, or if printing fails: a "Print Receipt" button appears on the "Sale Complete" confirmation screen so you can print (or retry) manually.

See Printer Setup to choose and configure a method.

Reprinting a Past Receipt

  1. Go to Sales from the sidebar.
  2. Click on the sale you want to reprint.
  3. In the sale detail dialog, click "Reprint".

Return and Exchange Receipts

Return receipts print automatically when a return is completed. The receipt shows a breakdown of the refunded items, the refund amount per item (adjusted for any discount on the original sale), and how the refund was paid out.

If the refund method is Exchange, an exchange receipt is printed instead. This receipt includes a scannable barcode that the cashier uses at the next checkout to apply the credit. The exchange receipt also shows the credit value and how long it is valid.

To reprint either type: open Returns from the sidebar, click the return, and click "Reprint".

See Redeeming an Exchange Receipt at Checkout for how exchange receipts are used at the POS.

FAQ

Q: What paper size does the receipt use?

A: Receipts are formatted for standard 80mm thermal paper.

Q: Do I need special software to print?

A: Not for basic printing. The browser dialog method uses your browser's built-in print function and works on any device with no extra software. For automatic, silent printing (no dialog after each sale), install QZ Tray on a desktop computer, or pair a Web Bluetooth printer on a tablet. See Printer Setup.

Q: Can a Cashier print receipts?

A: Yes. All roles can print receipts from the POS. Reprinting from Sales History requires Manager or Admin access.

Q: My receipt is blank or shows other page content.

A: Make sure you are clicking the "Print Receipt" or "Reprint" button, not Ctrl+P manually. The system hides all non-receipt content when printing via those buttons.

Q: I don't have a tax number. Will it show on the receipt?

A: No. If the tax number field is empty in Store Profile, that line is omitted.

Q: Can I add a custom message to receipts?

A: Yes. Use the Receipt Footer field under Store Profile in Settings.

Q: How do I set up a thermal receipt printer?

A: See Advanced Printing Setup for QZ Tray and Bluetooth printer configuration.
